Cocks combs-Wool flowers
Celosia cristata
Commonly known as Cocks comb, since the flower looks
like the head on a cock.
This plant is frequently used as an ornamental indoor plant.
It grows well indoors or out and it is resistant to most diseases.
Being an annual, it grows for only about one forth of a year and
is relatively easy to grow.
Cocks comb flowers are seen in vibrant reds, pinks, yellows and
gold colors. They have no fragrance.
These flowers are also known as Wool flowers or Brain Celosia.
They symbolize humor, warmth and stillness.
How to grow Cocks combs:
1) Plant seeds in the garden soil 6-8 weeks before, then plant the
seedlings 8 inches apart in well drained soil.
2) Keep the soil moderately fertile and consistently moist.
Cocks comb grows best in hot, slightly moist conditions.
